NOTES: This small park adjacent to the Senate side of the Oregon Capitol is a favorite place for visitors to feed squirrels. Bagged peanuts are available inside the Capitol, in the Capitol Gift Shop. Flanking the center walkway are the Oregon Department of Justice (left) and on the right, the Oregon Supreme Court Building (designed by prominent turn-of-the-century, northwest architect W.C. Knighton). The rooftop in the lower right corner is above the Oregon Senate Chamber. The north-south foothills of the Cascade Mountains can be made out along the skyline. These foothills are about 30 miles away and mark the eastern edge of the Willamette Valley.
