Wind, rain, pigeons (claws & droppings) and other elements found the top of the Golden Pioneer's head most exposed to weathering. Over a period of 16 years, the gold leaf was slowly eroded until being replaced in September of 2000. Eaton Hall (1909) at Willamette University can be seen on the right margin. This view looks southeast.
