| Governor Earl Snell, who also served as Oregon Secretary of State, holds two steelhead as he and his boatman pose on the Nehalem River north of Tillamook, Oregon in 1940.
On October 28, 1947, Governor Snell, Secretary of State Robert S. Farrell, President of the Senate Marshall E. Cornett and their pilot were killed in a private airplane crash in southern Oregon .
