| One of Oregon's premier fisheries, the Deschutes River has been popular for a hundred years due to its spectacular desert scenery, challenging whitewater, prolific "redside" native trout and summer steelhead runs. No fishing is allowed from boats. The Deschutes is especially appealing to flyfishers seeking technical, hatch-matching situations. It flows northward through Central Oregon out of the Cascade Mountains & empties into the Columbia River.
