Three Generations of Award Winning Iris Growers

Schreiner's Iris Gardens began as a hobby during World War I when Francis Xavier Schreiner started growing Iris in St. Paul, Minnesota; a testament to the fact that bearded Iris will grow in a variety of climates. Upon his death in 1931, Francis' children continued the business and chose to move the gardens to the Keizer area north of Salem, Oregon.

Since 1947, Schreiner's Iris Gardens has graced the Oregon landscape. We are the largest national retail grower of Iris with 200 acres of growing fields and 10 viewing acres open to the public. Schreiner's Iris Gardens sells over 3.5 million rhizomes annually, primarily from national and international catalog mail orders, and employs a crew of 150 during the shipping and planting season.

With over 400 varieties of Iris available in our catalog, Schreiner's trademark is varied colors, plant vigor and excellent bloom stems. Each year the Gardens introduce 15 new Iris hybrids, developed by the Schreiner family. Schreiner's success is benchmarked by ten Dykes Memorial Medals, the highest honor an Iris can receive, the most recent of which was won by Yaquina Blue.
